Quality Shoe Construction
Dr. Comfort believes diabetic shoes should be of the highest quality to best serve the special foot health needs of diabetics. Two important quality features on all of our shoes are:
- Extra light-weight Outsoles
- Firm Stabilizing Shanks
Dr.Comfort’s women’s shoes are up to 30% lighter than other diabetic shoes. The special EVA material we use to make them is lightweight, yet still very durable over time. Soles on our men’s shoes are made of a special lightweight rubber, which is also very durable. Light-weight shoes help prevent fatigue, as well as provide much more comfort for patients. All Dr Comfort shoes also feature either an internal or external shank. This assures the sole flexes where the foot flexes – preventing flexing in the mid or rear sections of the shoe, thus providing the best stability possible. As for our diabetic Work boots, the Boss and the Protector, the special soles on these boots are oil resistant and have received electrical shock certification of test ASTM F2412-05/ASTM F2413-05, meaning they can withstand up to 14000 volts for up to one minute.

Our Ladies Shoes Are OH So Light
How light are they? Well, very light. A pair of these diabetic shoes without an insert weighs in at just 545 grams. They weigh only 635 grams when you add one of our pre-fabricated Gel Plus inserts. The Euro-style shoes (which include the Kristin, Lily, Betty, LuLu, Move and Walk) have an improved, light-weight outsole. Dr Comfort shoes are great for those who are concerned about ‘heavy shoes’ and we believe that they are as light, if not lighter, than any other diabetic shoe out there.
